Davino Watson is suing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after it held him in immigration detention for three and half years despite his insistence that he was a U.S. citizen. The U.S. government is not allowed to detain U.S. citizens in immigration custody, but officials did not investigate Mr. Watson's claims and continued to detain him. NIJC and pro bono attorney Mark Flessner represent Mr. Watson.
