This Privacy Policy outlines the types of personal information we gather when you use NIJC's website, as well as some of the steps we take to safeguard it.

The following principles apply to the personal identification information we ask for and that you provide. Personal identification information is information that individually identifies you, such as your name, physical address, interests, or e-mail address.

Collection of Data
  • The search function of NIJC's websites, http://www.immigrantjustice.org/ and http://www.nationalimmigrantjusticecenter.org/, do not collect personal identification information.
  • NIJC collects limited non-personal identification information your browser makes available whenever you visit a website. This log information includes your browser type, browser language, the date and time of your usage, and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser. We use this information to track the usage of our website to improve and meet the demand of our services.
  • Some of the information available through our website requires you to create a registered users account. There is no obligation to sign up for an account. All materials available to registered users are available in hard copy. To obtain hard copies of any of our materials, please contact the Program Coordinator of the National Immigrant Justice Center. Separate privacy and confidentiality sharing issues may apply.
Cookies
  • When you first visit http://www.immigrantjustice.org/, a cookie will be sent to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. A "cookie" is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a website. We use cookies to improve the quality of our service and to better understand how people interact with us. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Some features or services may not function properly without cookies.
Information sharing
  • Personal identification information obtained through registered user accounts will never be rented or sold to third parties or used for any other purpose than to inform users of events or news related to the National Immigrant Justice Center; its parent organization, Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights (Heartland Alliance); or its partners.
  • Rights to personal identification information are retained by the user. At any time, a user may discontinue his/her account on http://www.immigrantjustice.org/ by contacting the Program Coordinator. While every effort will be made on the part of NIJC to remove that user's personal identification information from any and all internal databases NIJC uses to store contact information, NIJC shall not be held liable for inadvertent future communications from NIJC, Heartland Alliance, or its partners. It is the exclusive responsibility of the user to request to be removed from future communications in that instance.
