The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that an Afghan man targeted by the Taliban because he assisted the U.S. military should not be expected to rely on the Afghan military to help him safely relocate inside Afghanistan.

Seventh Circuit Criticizes "Arcane Procedures" for Visa Applicants Print E-mail

The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals says the case of a Nigerian woman who was detained after obtaining a visa to rejoin her husband "highlights the obstacles that foreigners face in navigating arcane procedures intended to reunite them with their American-citizen spouses in the United States."

Court Orders U.S. Attorney General to Allow Chicago Resident to Return to United States Print E-mail

A former Chicago resident who was prohibited from reentering the United States after a trip abroad in 2003 should be allowed to return to the United States, the District Court of Northern Illinois ruled today.

Seventh Circuit Excoriates BIA in latest of Trend-Setting Reversals Print E-mail

In the case of Mekhael v. Mukasey, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals delivered the latest in a series of stinging rebukes to the immigration courts and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) when it ordered the review of the case of a Lebanese asylum seeker and called for the Department of Justice to allocate more resources to ensure that immigrants receive fair review of their cases.
