Chicago Daily Law Bulletin: NIJC meets with Mexico First Lady on immigrant children's rights

Heartland Alliance's National Immigrant Justice Center Executive Director Mary Meg McCarthy (second from left) met with First Lady of Mexico Margarita Zavala (third from left) and Illinois officials on August 4, 2011, to discuss protections for unaccompanied immigrant youth. The group discussed the need for legal representation for unaccompanied youth in immigration proceedings who do not have access to court-appointed counsel.
