Federal Judge Richard Posner described administrative law judges who serve in the immigration courts as ill-trained and insufficient in number during a speech to the Chicago Bar Association this week.

Today Republican leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives filed a "discharge petition" on the SAVE Act (a.k.a. the Shuler-Tancredo bill), which means they are gathering signatures to force this dangerous anti-immigrant bill to the House floor for a vote.

Representative Heath Schuler (D-NC) introduced the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement Act (SAVE Act), H.R. 4088, in November 2007. This bill will damage our communities by increasing the deportation of workers and separating American children and spouses from their loved ones. It will not fix our broken immigration system.
