Detainees from yesterday's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid at a meat processing plant in Iowa are being held at a cattle ground.

Given this week's revelations in the media regarding treatment of immigrants in ICE custody, one would think the agency would have reconsidered its decision to keep the workers in a facility intended to hold livestock.

Lawyers are trying to gain access to detainees inside the National Cattle Congress fairground in Waterloo, Iowa, to present basic Know Your Rights presentations. According to the Des Moines Register, the whereabouts of many of the workers who were arrested at the Agriprocessing, Inc. plant in Postville, Iowa, are still unclear.

The National Immigrant Justice Center released a statement today insisting that ICE allow lawyers to meet with detainees and uphold detainees' Constitutional and human rights.
