Courts Take Children Away from Detained Parents

There is an infuriating story today in The New York Times about immigrant women who are detained and denied contact with their children, only to find out later the courts have taken away their custody.

Even when the mothers pled for the courts to help them locate their children and place them in foster care until they were released, the women were not allowed to communicate with their children until they had been given over to the care of someone else. The article highlights several cases, not just one isolated case, and is another indication that the U.S. immigration system is broken and destroying families.
